IC 1693 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 263 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 40,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 519 , NGC 530 , NGC 538 , IC 1696 .
The object was discovered on January 1st, 1900 by Herbert Alonzo Howe .
