IC 1678 is a compact galaxy of Hubble type C in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 636 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 486 , NGC 488 , NGC 490 , NGC 492 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 24, 1903 .
