IC 1684 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type S in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 186 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 495 , NGC 498 , NGC 499 and NGC 501 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 1, 1899 .
