IC 1683 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 224 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years across. Together with 41 other galaxies, it forms the NGC 507 group ( LGG 26 ).
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 512 , NGC 513 , NGC 523 , IC 1675 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 29, 1899 .
