NGC 512 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 223 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 496 , NGC 513 , NGC 523 , NGC 537 .
The object was discovered on November 17, 1827 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
