NGC 534 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is an estimated 258 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 544 , NGC 546 , NGC 549 , among others .
The object was discovered on November 17, 1827 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
