NGC 516 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 113 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 509 , NGC 518 , NGC 524 , NGC 525 .
The object was discovered on September 25, 1862 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
