NGC 529 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Andromeda , which is approximately 222 million light years from the Milky Way . NGC 529 together with the galaxies NGC 531 , NGC 536 and NGC 542 form the Hickson Compact Group 10, abbreviated to HCG 10.
The object was discovered on November 17, 1827 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
