NGC 522 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is around 126 million light years away and has a diameter of around 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 525 , IC 101 , IC 102 , IC 114 .
The object was discovered on September 25, 1862 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
