IC 101 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 112 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 45,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 516 , NGC 522 , NGC 525 , IC 102 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 2, 1893 .
