IC 120 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 217 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 558 , NGC 560 , NGC 564 , IC 119 , among others .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 3, 1891 .
