IC 116 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SD in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is around 247 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 65,000 light years .
The galaxy IC 118 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 14, 1892 .
