IC 102 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 648 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 170,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 516 , NGC 522 , NGC 525 , IC 101 , among others .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 2, 1893 .
