NGC 446 = IC 89 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It's about 247 million light years away and about 145,000 light years in diameter. The object is listed as a Seyfert 2 galaxy , a type of active galaxy .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 455 and NGC 462 .
The galaxy was discovered on October 23, 1864 by the German astronomer Albert Marth .
