NGC 448 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 88 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 442 and NGC 450 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on September 2, 1886 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
