NGC 459 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 573 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light-years across.
The type II supernova SN 2011fv was observed here.
The object was discovered on October 15, 1784 by the German-British astronomer William Herschel .
