NGC 452 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 228 million light years from the Milky Way and about 165,000 light years across. Together with NGC 444, it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair KPG 28 and both are members of the NGC 452 group ( LGG 18 ), which counts 22 galaxies . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 444 , IC 1652 , IC 1654 , IC 1659 .

The object was discovered on November 22, 1827 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
