NGC 472 is a Hubble-type S0 spiral galaxy in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 244 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 90,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 468 , IC 1666 , IC 1669 , IC 1673 .
The object was discovered on August 29, 1862 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
