Mister World
Mister World or Mr World is an international beauty contest for men. Conceived as a counterpart to the Miss World election , the competition has been organized by the Miss World Organization since 1996 .
The beauty competition first took place in September 1996 with 50 participants in Istanbul, Turkey . Originally, like the Miss World election, the event was to be held annually. In the past, however, the competition was organized alternately from two to four years.
As with the Miss World election, the candidates will i. d. Usually determined in national competitions (e.g. Mister Germany , Mister Austria ). The election takes place over several weeks, during which the competitors have to compete in sports, talent and cooking competitions as well as fashion shows. The winner will be determined by an international jury during a live TV gala and will receive a blue scarf in addition to advertising contracts. As in the Miss World election, special prizes ("Mr Personality", "Mr Photogenic", "Best Talent") are awarded sporadically.
The fifth Mister World election took place for three weeks in March 2007 in Sanya, China. The 56 candidates had to take part in several competitions in the categories of style, strength, endurance and intellectual ability. In addition to a number of sports (including individual and team competitions in weight training, climbing and rafting ), tests in the disciplines of cooking and cocktail mixing were also held. The final was broadcast live on television in over 100 countries on March 31, and reached 1.4 billion viewers. The 25-year-old television actor and model Juan García Postigo (Mister Spain 2006) prevailed as the “most desirable man” and was honored with a glass sculpture. Postigo then traveled the world for a year as an ambassador for charity and environmental protection.
In 2010 the sixth Mister World beauty pageant took place from March 11th to 27th, 2010 in Incheon , Korea . The winner was selected from among 74 participants and will receive advertising contracts and prize money of 50,000 US dollars (approx. 36,535 euros).
