Groundwater-fed quarry pond

Template: Infobox See / Maintenance / EVIDENCE AREA

Jägersee is the name for two mutually separate by a dam lakes between the villages Röthenbach at St. Wolfgang and wet . They are located in the Lorenzer Reichswald , in the southeast of Nuremberg .

The two lakes are separated by a narrow dam. The large Jägersee is shallower, has brown-colored water and is therefore warmed up more in summer. The small Jägersee is deeper, has a small island, is less discolored and therefore has cooler water in summer. To the west of the large lake there is a now overgrown meadow. Up until the 1980s there was a spacious playground with a cable car and an adjacent barbecue and sunbathing area.

history

In the course of the construction work on the six-lane expansion of the A9 Berlin − Munich, construction sand was extracted here. After the end of economic use, the pit filled with groundwater and was renatured as a quarry pond in the 1970s.

A small trench with water from the former Muna ammunition depot was led around the large Jägersee during the renaturation process. Chemical warfare agents were also stored in the Muna and there was repeated speculation about the possibility of contamination of the water in this trench. After 2000 the dam broke between the ditch and the lake and for a few years the water flowed into the lake. The district office of Roth, which did not confirm this incident, responded to an inquiry: "An investigation of the groundwater inflow was carried out years ago as part of the armaments investigation without any evidence of impairment." B. could indicate overfertilization from agriculture, are inconspicuous. In 2011 the dam was restored.

use

The two lakes are used intensively as a recreational area. All parts of the bank are accessible via paths. In addition, cycling, walking and hiking trails lead right past the lake. The most famous hiking trails here are the Jakobsweg and the Franconian Dune Trail .

Both lakes are also used as nudist beaches for swimming in summer . Caution is advised when bathing, as the large lake is polluted with broken glass. The water watch is not on site and there is no kiosk.

In winter the lakes are used for ice skating and ice stock sport .

The ecologically valuable Krugsweiher are located south of the Jägersee .

There are no parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. The closest official parking facility with very few parking spaces is located near the Feuchter sewage treatment plant. From the outskirts of Feucht, the lakes (towards the riding stables) can be easily reached on foot in around 10 minutes.
