NGC 416 is an open star cluster in the small Magellanic Cloud in the constellation of Toucan, 200,000 light years away . The age of the cluster is estimated to be 2.5 billion years.
The object was discovered on September 5, 1826 by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop .
