NGC 359 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type SB0E / S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 242 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 364 .
The object was discovered on September 2, 1864 by the German astronomer Albert Marth .
