NGC 338 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 220 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 315 , NGC 318 , IC 66 , IC 69 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered in 1877 by the German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
