Philippe Masson
Philippe Masson (* 1928 ; † 2005 ) was a French historian .
Life
From 1964 to 1993 he was professor of history and strategy at the École supérieure de guerre navale and from 1965 head of the historical department of the Service historique de la Marine .
He wrote numerous works on military history, the war and merchant navy.
Masson was a member of the Académie de marine and an officer in the Legion of Honor .
