The Philippsburg is a castle-like mansion in the Loga district of the East Frisian city of Leer .

history

Baron Philipp von Wedel had the Philippsburg built purely as a residential building in 1730. Originally, the whole complex was one-story apart from the two-story center of the central building with a curved gable . In 1906 the house of Botho Graf von Wedel was increased by one floor. The gable was integrated into the building. The Counts of Wedel also owned the Evenburg, only a few hundred meters away, and Gödens Castle from 1746 until today .

The Philippsburg now belongs to the family of the Count von der Schulenburg by inheritance and is privately inhabited. The associated park is partly private, partly urban. In the private part of the park, the event "Fairy Tales and Music in the Park" has been held every two years since 1996 and is organized by a nearby bookshop.

description

The Philippsburg is a three-wing complex open to the street, which was built in the style of the Dutch Baroque .
