The Philipsdam is part of the Delta Works . It separates the Krammer and Volkerak waters from the Oosterschelde and runs between the Grevelingen dam and the Sint-Philipsland .

In 1976 the construction of a work island on the Plaat van Vliet began. Then the Krammer sluices were built for inland navigation .

These were completed in 1983 and opened to traffic on February 2, 1987 after the dyke construction work had been completed. In 1994 a lock was built for recreational shipping.

The locks work with a water exchange system that prevents salt water from flowing from the Oosterschelde into the Volkerak. The heavier salt water is sucked off from below or the fresh water from above, depending on the direction of travel of the ships. The locks are 280 meters long and 24 meters wide and are therefore also suitable for large push convoys.

Krammer wind farm

In 2017, a wind farm with a total of 34 turbines from the German manufacturer Enercon (E-115 with 3 MW nominal output and 122 meters hub height) was built on the Krammersluizen site . The 102 MW park was officially opened by King Willem-Alexander in May 2019 .
