The Phillips Exeter Academy Library is a nine-story library in the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter , New Hampshire . With a stock of 160,000 and a capacity of 200,000 media units, it is the largest school library in the world. After the previous library became too small, the American architect Louis I. Kahn was commissioned with a modern new building from 1965 to 1971 .

In 1997, the library received the Twenty-five Year Award of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In 2005 the United States Postal Service put a postage stamp into circulation that recognized the library as one of the twelve "Masterworks of Modern American Architecture". In 2007 the AIA listed the library at number 80 on the list of “America's Favorite Architecture”.
