Philosopheme

A philosophem is used to describe a philosophical tenet, a philosophical question or a philosophical saying.

The term comes from the philosophy of Greece and was used by Aristotle to designate an apodictic syllogism ( ἔστι δὲ φιλοσόφημα μὲν συλλογισμὸς ἀποδεικτικός - esti de philosophêma men syllogismos apodeiktikos 11, 162, Top VIII. VIII. Examples are subject-specific terms such as “ Élan vital ”, noumenon and “ existentials ” or plastic characterizations such as “Being determines consciousness” and “ Eternal return of the same ”.
