PhotoFiltre is an image editing program by Antonio Da Cruz. It is available as freeware and in many languages for non-commercial use . The program can be used to make numerous changes and manipulations on images. It offers many graphic filters and effects for this, but tool functions are also available. There is also the option of expanding the tool with graphic plug-ins . About 20 such plugins are already available for free download on the homepage, as well as a selection of ready-made selection masks and filters.

Because of its large range of functions for free software, PhotoFiltre has been repeatedly praised in various PC magazines since the end of 2005 and presented as an editorial tip on various online portals. So it achieved a high level of awareness, while previously it was only known as an insider tip.

In addition to the free version, there is PhotoFiltre Studio , which is distributed as shareware and, as a notable difference to the freeware version, offers support for layers, animated GIF files and 8bf filters. PhotoFiltre is intended for Windows systems and is not currently available for other operating systems. There is now a native Linux version under the “PhotoFiltre LX” project. This is open source ( GPLv3 ) and reached version 1.01 in October 2016.

The Windows version can be used in GNU / Linux distributions such as Ubuntu with Wine . According to the AppDB, the program is fully supported by Wine on Linux.
