Phyllobius betulinus is a beetle from the family of weevils and the subfamily Entiminae . It also bears the German name Weißdorn-Blattrüssler .
features
The beetles are 4–6 mm long. They are covered with green and gold-green scales. They have numerous bald spots. They also have long, light, protruding hairs, which can also be found on the unscaled underside of the abdomen. There is a strong thorn on each femora .
distribution
The heat-loving species occurs in Central Europe, but is not common. The distribution area extends over the British Isles, the southern Fennoscandinavia , the Baltic States , the northern Mediterranean area and the Balkans .
Way of life
The beetles fly from April to September. They are often found on the rose plants (Rosaceae) of the genera Prunus and Crataegus ( hawthorns ). The larvae feed on the roots of various shrubs.
