Phyllobius maculicornis is a beetle from the family of weevils and the subfamily Entiminae . The beetles are also known as green leaf weevers .
features
The beetles are 4–6 mm long. They are covered with green to bluish green scales. They have numerous bald spots where bright hair bristles stick up. There is a strong thorn on each femora .
distribution
The distribution area extends in the western Palearctic from Europe to Siberia. The beetle species is widespread in Europe and is also found in the British Isles and Scandinavia. In Central Europe it occurs almost everywhere and is common.
Way of life
The beetles can be seen between late April and mid-June. They are often found on hawthorns ( Crataegus ). The larvae feed on the roots of various shrubs.
