The skirt Iceland Railroad Bridge is a single-track railway bridge over the Columbia River , a few kilometers upstream from the skirt Iceland Dam and near rock Iceland , in the State of Washington of the United States . The truss bridge made of riveted steel is from the BNSF Railway operates and for the rail freight transport on the Northern Transcon between Spokane and Seattle used.

The bridge was built in 1892/93 for the Great Northern Railway at a narrow point of the Columbia River, where the river briefly divides into a deep main arm and a shallow side arm. The main part of the bridge consists of a 127 meter long lattice girder with a polygonal top chord and track below, which spans the main arm at a height of over 30 meters when the water is low , and a 76 meter long truss with a track above the side arm.

With the advent of stronger and heavier steam locomotives at the beginning of the 20th century, the bridge's load-bearing capacity was no longer sufficient. In 1925, additional trusses were integrated into both parts of the bridge for reinforcement. With the shorter girder, an additional central structure could be built in, as the track runs on the top. The bridge section over the main arm of the river was reinforced from the outside with almost identical trusses, with the new structures for accommodating the cross beams being moved slightly downwards. This gave this part of the bridge its characteristic appearance, one that was almost completely enclosed by a second bridge.

The Rock Island Railroad Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 (NRHP #: 75001842).
