Pi2 (actually ² ) is a Spanish progressive rock band founded in 1998 .
It was started by the nationally known producer and keyboard player Pito Costa as a kind of supergroup . It was actually only intended as a one-off project with the musicians Lluís Ribalta, Llís Casals, Albert Lleal and Oriol Camprodón, who had worked together before. After the positive reactions to the first album Retorn , Costa decided to continue and two years later recorded the successor Dema sera un altre dia , with an almost completely different line-up.
In 2005 they played as support act for RPWL and Fish at the AMAROK Festival. Shortly afterwards the third album was released, in 2009 the last for the time being.
Most of the changing band members continue to pursue their solo and other band projects, but still remain part of the Pi2 project.
The band's style is symphonic progressive rock with folkloric borrowings from Spain and Latin America .
