Pienocentras

Pienocentras (Eng. 'Milk Center') was the association of Lithuanian companies. The aim was to increase the economic efficiency of the milk processing companies, to expand and improve the quality of dairy products and the sales organization. "Pienocentras" was built on January 1, 1927 by Lietūkis . "Lietūkis" transferred his dairy departments as he began to specialize and expand the core business (trade, marketing ).

In 1928 “Pienocentras” had 241 dairies and 327 milk collection points, 17,293 dairy farmers (they supplied 40,247 tons of milk). In 1939 there were 176 dairies and 2,159 milk points, in which 106,905 farmers delivered 499,297 tons of milk (delivery increased 12 times).

In 1939 there was a capital increase to 10 million litas . In 1939 "Pienocentras" produced 19,900 tons of butter , of which 17,300 tons were exported. Butter and egg exports accounted for 25% of total Lithuanian exports (1939).

The Lithuanian government supported "Pienocentras" with 95 million litas.
