Pierre-aux-Fées (Saint-Micaud)
The menhir Pierre-aux-Fées is in Saint-Micaud near Le Creusot in the Saône-et-Loire department in France . The menhir, which was declared a monument historique in 1923 , is around 6.35 m high, making it the largest standing menhir in the Saône-et-Loire department. It weighs about 15 tons.
The menhir is decorated with several serpentine lines, shields and a cross, which are common in the Atlantic megalithic space, but it also has a specific anthropomorphic mark from southern France .
It collapsed in January 1871 and was buried three years later. In 1911, on the initiative of Victor Berthier, correspondent for the Megalithic Monument Commission for the Saône-et-Loire department since 1894, it was recovered and placed about 37 m west of the original location on the roadside.
