Pierre à la Marte
The dolmen Pierre à la Marte (also known as the dolmen of Montchevrier ) is located in a group of trees in a field south of the D 72 road, west of Montchevrier in the Indre department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ). Pierre à la Marte is also the nickname of the Dolmens de la Pierre Là .
The roughly rectangular dolmen consists of eight predominantly in situ or slightly tilted supporting stones and an overlying ceiling slab about 4.0 m long, 3.25 m wide and 0.8 m thick. There is a ninth plate nearby. The east-west oriented chamber is 3.5 m long, 2.1 m wide and 1.35 m high. The access is in the east. The remnants of the tumulus, almost 18.0 m in diameter, can still be seen.
