Pierre Bessard

Pierre Bessard (* 1975 ) is a Swiss publicist and economist .

Life

Bessard has been director of the Liberal Institute since January 1, 2008  and a member of its board of trustees. He is co-founder and former director of the liberal Lausanne Institute Constant de Rebecque (until 2012) and was a commentator for the French-language business newspaper L'Agefi from 2002 to 2016  . Bessard studied economics with a focus on public finance in New York and Shanghai, is a member of the Mont Pèlerin Society , the  Friedrich A. von Hayek Society , board member of Aktion Medien Freiheit  and publisher of numerous institute books on economic topics. He is an advocate of individual freedom and the free market economy , which he called an “intrinsically moral institution” in a text for Weltwoche . He called the program of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland a “Marxist satire”, which pursues the goal of overcoming capitalism and abolishing property.
