Pierre Flottes

Pierre Flottes (born March 15, 1895 in Limoges , † February 24, 1994 in Bordeaux ) was a French historian, Romance studies and literary scholar.

life and work

Flottes passed the Agrégation in history and geography in 1919 and completed his habilitation in 1926 at the University of Strasbourg with the two theses La pensée politique et sociale d ' Alfred de Vigny (Paris 1927) and L'Influence d'Alfred de Vigny sur Leconte de Lisle (Paris 1926). From 1927 to 1930 he was a high school teacher in Rochefort-sur-Mer and from 1930 taught at the University of Bordeaux as a professor of French literature.

Flottes was a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques (1971). He was an officer in the Legion of Honor .
