Pierre Galin (* 1786 ; † August 31, 1821 in Paris ) was a French music theorist.

Galin studied mathematics at the École Polytechnique . Based on the idea of Rousseau's numerical scripts , he developed a method of teaching music, which he published in Bordeaux in his book Exposition d'une nouvelle méthode pour l'enseignement de la musique in 1818.

This method, which he developed together with his sister and brother-in-law Aimé Paris and practiced in Paris from 1819, became known as the Méthode Galin-Cheve-Paris and was used throughout Europe and the USA. Further publications on the method were published by his students Edouard Jue , Aime Lemoine and Philippe de Geslin .
