List of rose varieties |
The rose variety Pierre de Ronsard (syn. Eden, MEIviolin) was crossed by the French rose breeder Meilland in 1985 ('Danse de Sylphes' × 'Handel') and the Floribunda 'Kalinka' (synonym 'Pink Wonder') and is in Germany under the Name 'Eden Rose 85' introduced. It is dedicated to the French writer Pierre de Ronsard (1524–1585).
It is a modern shrub rose from the romantic rose breeding line; Its approximately 10 cm large, bowl-shaped, double, fragrant flowers have the charm of classic roses - they change from creamy white to dark pink and hang down under their weight. The flowers only open optimally in warm climates; The flowers mummify more often in cool and damp weather. After a rich first pile, more flowers will follow continuously until the end of the season in autumn.
The sparsely occupied, almost thornless shoots of the 'Pierre de Ronsard' can be tied up on a trellis and about 2–3 m high; the plant develops rather slowly. Its dark green, glossy leaves are robust. 'Pierre de Ronsard' is also commercially available as a rose stem.
