from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pierre du Val , also: Petro du Val, Petrus Valentius, (* Normandy around 1500 ; † in July 1558 ) was a preacher in the French community in Emden ( East Frisia ) during the Reformation .

Pierre du Val fled France to London as a supporter of the Reformation in 1552 . Here he met Johannes á Lasco , to whom the French Reformed congregation in Threadneedle Street was subordinate. In 1553 he fled with the community to Emden.

In association with Johannes á Lasco and Jan Utenhove , in 1554 he recommended the growing Walloon (French) community in Wesel, contrary to Calvin's advice, to stand firm against the demands of the Wesel Lutherans .

The Emden valuation list from 1555 names him Petrus Valentius and lets him live near the Great Church.
