Pilgrim's House in Hirschfelde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pilgerhäusl Hirschfelde is a pilgrim hostel in Hirschfelde on the Zittau Way of St. James , which is housed in a heritage-protected timber-framed house at Komturgasse 9.

history

The building stands on the site of the former Commandery of the Order of St. John . The current building was probably built as a farmhouse at the beginning of the 18th century. There were several modifications. In 1917 the Catholic parish acquired it and used it as a rectory. The stable was converted into a chapel in 1919. In 1935 the church of St. Konrad von Parzham was built in the immediate vicinity. The half-timbered house had stood empty since 1992 and was finally sold to the Pilgerhäuslverein , which renovated it from 2010 to 2014 according to monument preservation and ecological aspects and converted it into a pilgrims' hostel. The house was reopened on March 21, 2014.
