The Pinkus tumor (syn .: Fibroepithelioma Pinkus, premalignant fibroepithelioma) is a histological variant of the superficial basalioma and shows a pronounced stromal component. This tumor was named after the German-American dermatologist Hermann Pinkus (son of the dermatologist Felix Pinkus ), who described it for the first time in 1953.
Clinically, there are skin-colored to slightly red, cent-sized and moderately elastic tumors, which are mostly localized on the trunk and lower extremities in older patients. The tumor grows less invasively and is rare.
The histology shows a narrow epidermis with a spongy system of epithelial septa, which surround a stroma that is rich in cells and vessels . In many places there are epithelial buds on the septa, which can become basaliomas.
The therapy of choice is excision .
