Pinnacle maneuvers of a Boeing-Vertol CH-47 Chinook

A pinnacle maneuver (also pinnacle landing or hover landing) is a flight maneuver by a helicopter .

In the Pinnacle maneuver, the helicopter lands almost horizontally on steep terrain and only touches down with the stern or the bow. This flight maneuver is used for mountain rescue or material transport flights in rough terrain.

The maneuver is only used by pilots who have extensive flight experience. They are also trained for this purpose.
