Hermann Berck

Hermann Berck (born July 3, 1740 in Bremen , † April 8, 1816 in Bremen) was a merchant, councilor and Bremen senator .

biography

Berck was the son of the businessman Gerhard Berck (1699–1768) and his wife Regine. The father lived in Bremen from 1717.
Berck was married to Margarethe Schacht (around 1756–1809); both had five children, including the future Senator Theodor Berck (1784-1850).

He completed a commercial apprenticeship and then became a partner in his father's grocery store , which he ran from 1768, together with his younger brother from 1780. In 1782 he became councilor / senator as the successor to Gerhard von dem Busch and was in the office until his death.

Berckstrasse in Bremen - Horn-Lehe was named after him in 1794. It was created before 1794 at his instigation. Three houses from the 18th century are probably among the oldest buildings in the district.
