Brush stroke
The brushwork is the term used to describe the lines in painting . This can differ from picture to picture as well as within a picture and thus express the importance of the picture components for the painter. If, for example, the lines on the face of a portrait are finer than that of clothing, one recognizes that the painter attaches particular importance to the facial expression or the face.
The brushwork can be coarse or fine, flat or painterly, homogeneous or heterogeneous, dynamic or static, ordered or disordered, pasty (opaque) or glazed (transparent, transparent), contoured or blending.
