from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz , Polish: Piotr Wilhelmi z Grudziądza (* 1392 in Graudenz ( Grudziądz ); † around 1480) was a composer and poet born in Prussia.

Life

Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz began studying at the University of Krakow in 1418 , which he completed in 1430 as a master's degree. He then left Krakow and was probably in Vienna and the Basel region. In the 1440s he was cappellanus at the court of Emperor Friedrich III. Then he went to Bohemia. In 1448 he applied to Bishop Peter II Nowag in Breslau for a position as canon in Frauenburg ( Frombork ). In 1452 he made a trip to Rome.

It was not until the 20th century that his works were “discovered” in various, primarily Czech sources such as the Codex Speciálník , the Franus-Kantional , the Graduale von Chrudim and the Glogau songbook . They are motets in Latin.
