Pippa Hackett (* in Ballindine, County Mayo ) is an Irish politician of the Green Party (GP).

Life

Pippa Hackett graduated from the University of Essex with a degree in Agriculture , which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. She completed postgraduate studies at University College Dublin with a diploma and a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D. ) from the University of Limerick . She finished her academic career and runs an organic farm with cows, sheep, chickens and horses near Geashill in County Offaly with her husband, with whom she has four children . Her political commitment to the Green Party (GP) began when she became a member of the County Offaly Council on May 24, 2019 and represented the constituency of Edenderry until November 1, 2019 . In a by -election on November 1, 2019, she became a member of the Senate ( Seanad Éireann ) , the Upper House of Parliament ( Oireachtas ) as a representative of agriculture (Agriculture Panel ) , and in the election on 30/31. March 2020 re-elected.

On June 27, 2020, Pippa Hackett was appointed Minister of State for the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, with responsibility for Land Use and Biodiversity in the Martin government .
