The district of Piqan (also Shanshan , Chinese  鄯善县 , Pinyin Shànshàn Xiàn ; Uighur پىچان ناھىيىسى, Piqan Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Turfan Administrative District (officially: Turpan) in the center of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the west of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​39,548 km² and has a population of around 210,000 (2004). Its main town is Shanshan (鄯善 镇).

The Yanghai tombs (Yanghai muqun 洋 海 墓群) and the Toyuq (Toyok) cave temples (Tuyugou shiku 吐峪沟 石窟) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2006 .
