The district of Piqan (also Shanshan , Chinese 鄯善县 , Pinyin Shànshàn Xiàn ; Uighur پىچان ناھىيىسى, Piqan Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Turfan Administrative District (officially: Turpan) in the center of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the west of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 39,548 km² and has a population of around 210,000 (2004). Its main town is Shanshan (鄯善镇).

The Yanghai tombs (Yanghai muqun 洋海墓群) and the Toyuq (Toyok) cave temples (Tuyugou shiku 吐峪沟石窟) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 2006 .
