The Pitman Fracture Zone (English for Pitman Fracture Zone is) an undersea transform fault in the Southern Ocean . It runs between the 58th and 71st degrees of southern latitude and between the 155th and 175th degree of longitude west .

The designation, confirmed in March 1993 by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF), was made at the suggestion of Steven Cande, William F. Haxby and Carol A. Raymond of the Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory . It is named after the American geophysicist Walter C. Pitman (1936–2019) for his studies on continental drift and ocean floor spreading .
